Last month the club agreed an exclusive deal with Toro for a full fleet of new machinery. All of the Greenstaff are excited with the prospect of using new machines that will arrive over the next month. Once all of the machines arrive there will be an open day where members have the chance to come and have a look at all of the new kit. Details of this will be announced nearer the time.
Greenkeepers across the country have been out in force with their top dressers over the last few weeks making the most of the dry weather. With the wettest winter since records began, we have been unable to apply as many dressings as we would have liked. Applying sand to the greens smooths the surface, increases speed without lowering height of cut, dilutes thatch and firms the top layer. 1kg/sqm of pure sand is applied, when the sand dries it is the greens have the sand brushed in before being cut to return the surface.
Zach Hall-Newman has worked on the Greenstaff for 3 years. He started as a weekend bunker raker and realised over the summer months that this could be his chosen career. Zach is moving to a stunning course just south of Oslo in Norway called Notteroy Golfklubb. Zach will gain some excellent Greenkeeping experience as well as experience living in a foreign country. All of the staff at Royal Cinque Ports wish Zach all the best. He has been an outstanding member of staff over the past few years and we are all confident this will be the start of a flourishing career.
